Roofing in Emmet & Charlevoix County
Northern Michigan roofs take a beating from heavy snow, ice, and wind off the lakes. I build roofs to handle it, with the details done right at the eaves, valleys, and edges.
How I approach it
A new roof is about more than shingles. Ice and water protection along the eaves and in the valleys, proper flashing at walls and chimneys, and good attic ventilation all help prevent the ice dams and leaks that are common up here.
If damaged decking turns up during a tear-off, I'll show you and talk through the cost before replacing it. And when the job is done, the site gets cleaned up, including a sweep for nails.

Common questions
How do I know if I need a new roof or just a repair?
Curling or missing shingles, granules in the gutters, leaks in more than one spot, or a roof nearing the end of its life usually point to replacement. A single leak or a small damaged area can often be repaired. I'll give you an honest opinion either way.
What causes ice dams, and can a new roof help?
Ice dams form when heat escapes into the attic and melts snow, which then refreezes at the colder eaves. Proper ventilation, insulation, and ice and water protection at the eaves all help reduce them.
What happens if you find rotten decking?
I'll show you, explain how much needs replacing, and go over the cost before doing the work.
